HLTV.org in shock as KODE5 bans their HLTV
KODE5 have made an apparent u-turn and decided not to allow the popular HLTV.org to broadcast HLTV from their event, wanting to rely on their own KODE5 HLTV for their Grand Finals.
"For the past many years HLTV.org have been carrying the base load of HLTV spectators for every major event, very few times do we host less than 3/4ths of the total spectators at an event, making it possible for smaller hosters also to chip in," said Nomad in an official post on HLTV.org, "Without our base load service I very much doubt anyone have the setup and experience needed to provide HLTV for such a big event as KODE5. "
However, HLTV.org were set to cover the Grand Finals having already broadcast the various qualifiers across the globe. "Later Kode5 informed us they were forced to drop us due to a violated contract with one of their sponsors," said Nomad, "How exactly this contract was not violated during all the qualifiers is however still a mystery to us, as HLTV.org did not bring in any new sponsors in the last six months, it is also a mystery to us how this issue could suddenly come up only weeks before the grand final."
The Scandinavian based website had a few weeks before provided information on their HLTV setup but Nomad states that "sadly it all turned out that they were most likely squeezing us for the last bit of information they could." SK Gaming has contacted KODE5 and hopes to have their view on the situation as soon as possible.

With the ESWC Masters of Cheonan stream struggling to deliver the action HLTV like WaarghTV in Warcraft is an essential part of broadcasting eSports tournaments and HLTV.org is one of the leaders in the field."For the past many years HLTV.org have been carrying the base load of HLTV spectators for every major event, very few times do we host less than 3/4ths of the total spectators at an event, making it possible for smaller hosters also to chip in," said Nomad in an official post on HLTV.org, "Without our base load service I very much doubt anyone have the setup and experience needed to provide HLTV for such a big event as KODE5. "Sadly it all turned out that they were most likely squeezing us for the last bit of information they could"
The HLTV.org staff were already suspicious that all was not right, "as our sponsors were being contacted in an attempt to sell in-game advertising on the KODE5 HLTVs,"said Nomad. "Ironically enough the stats HLTV.org had provided KODE5 with last year, data that was guaranteed to us would only be used in internal reports, had now found its way into KODE5s presentations, without any mention of it being from HLTV.org." The Scandinavian based website had a few weeks before provided information on their HLTV setup but Nomad states that "sadly it all turned out that they were most likely squeezing us for the last bit of information they could." there are some guys that are paying some money to host this event and will advertise inside hltv. So the orginasation will make money with this action otherwise they wouldnt do something like this.
It is therefore understandable that KODE5 is taking this risk and are confident that they will host it on a decent way.
If they do not host it on a proper way then its worth to make some flames, until then we should just wait and see what they will make of it
no hltv cant watch the matches :S
The Eurosport TV-channel is sponsored by Nike.
World Championship Soccer Final is sponsored by Adidas.
Eurosport wants to broadcast this final, but don't agree on advertising Adidas, and choose to keep advertising Nike, a company that has spent 0€/$ on the actual event itself. Nike will get massive exposure through the TV-channel "for free".
Does anybody see a conflict of interest here? How can the World Championship organization explain this to Adidas and keep asking Adidas to pay their marketing dollars, when their greatest competitor is getting the benefit for free?
Of course, all the viewers and soccer fans will hate the WC organization from pulling the broadcast rights. They "just want to watch soccer", and suddenly the WC organization is the bad guy?
Now, I can definitely agree on the fact that this was all happening on a painfully short notice (and the reason for this, we can only guess; maybe the negotiations were taking a lot of time, with nobody budging. Who knows?), but apart from that, don't you think that hltv.org has at least done _something_ wrong too? And, honestly, Nix0n, the point is NOT how hltv.org spends its money. You can give the money to the poor, or help fighting malaria or famine in Africa. You DID STILL MAKE THE CASH from your sponsors, right? Right.
We all love to watch eSports events, but I hope you do realize that there would be no events of this size (Kode5, WCG, ESWC, etc. etc. etc.) without the business and marketing aspect behind it all, right? In all fairness, hltv.org could have been more flexible and could have allowed Kode5's sponsors the exposure they deserve for at least this one event.
I also want a perfect broadcast guaranteed, but I do understand why this has happened too. We can only hope that Kode5's own HLTV will run smoothly.
Oh, and a personal note to Nix0n and Nomad. This is in no way criticizing your work in general, but only a comment on this particular situation. You guys have done a wonderful job of bringing us great broadcasts through the years. I can only hope you keep up the good work. Thanks for everything so far!
...you can start with the flaming and thumbs down now.
But i understand HLTV.org too, they have put so much afford in the gaming scene & providing us one of the best services in game-history, FOR FREE!
Probably KODE5 will come back to HLTV.org after their hltv's failed or just didnt work as good as HLTV.org's.
I dont think it will last forever. Although they will really need alot of exp & knownl to over top the HLTV.org's afford.
