Word on the grapevine is that KODE5 could follow in the footsteps of the ESWC Masters of Cheonan by not drawing seeds for their Grand Final this weekend. The lack of seeding is what caused SK Gaming, WICKED and Fnatic to all fall into the same boat in the group stage at the ESWC Masters of Cheonan. Although, good in the sense it allows some top games early on, the group stages at ESWC Masters were best-of-1, and lack of seeding could cause imbalanced groups with some other top teams receiving an easier group than their rivals.
With the KODE5 tournament offering $25,000 for 1st place with a $40,000 cash purse, compared to $20,000 at the ESWC Masters with $30,000 cash purse, this event is a big deal on the Counter-Strike calendar of 2009 and lack of seeding if the rumour proves true we could see another top team out in the early stages.
