SoJu resigned to quit gaming

ImageFormer ESWC champion Seong Deok 'SoJu' Lee is left no choice but to leave his professional gaming career behind to serve military service this June.

Seong Deok 'SoJu' Lee parted way with SK Gaming together with Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim this January when the team decided to shift its focus from team competitions, followed by the departure of Seo Woo 'ReiGn' Kang a fortnight later.

While his former team-mates are able to resume their gaming career by competing in the NGL ONE solo competition, the ESWC 2007 and NiceGameTV League Season 2 champion has to spend the following months as an audience after sitting out the qualifier for NGL, and lost to ReMinD in the South Korea qualifier for G-League Season 7.

In an interview with GosuGamers, lack of sufficient competition and slender hope of joining a new team were cited as the cause that led to his decision to follow former Meet Your Makers’ Undead player Jae Wook 'Lucifer' Noh in the army.

He said, “I have been in very good shape from November 2008. My condition was very good and the games had been flowing the way I wanted. I got the title of NicegameTV League Season 2. I was also good at WC3L but after that there was no competitions, I lost my team and could not find a new team.”

“I'm very disappointed that I have to leave now because i'm in such good condition. Economic crisis makes whole thing different at that time. I think I can win surely if there was a WC3 contest on time.”

Apart from his famous success at ESWC and NicegameTV League, he also won a NGL title and a WC3L title during his stay in World Elite and SK Gaming.
