ESWC: Lucifron wins Cheonan, Lyn second

ImagePedro "Lucifron" Duran took first place at the ESWC Masters of Cheonan this morning defeating June "Lyn" Park in the Grand Final to win $10,000.

This is Lucifron's first major title, having finished 3rd at BlizzCon European Qualifier and 2nd at BlizzCon 2008, where he also faced June 'Lyn' Park in the Grand Final.

This time Lucifron progressed from a group which contained Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, Daniel 'ixi' Spenst and June 'Lyn' Park, to then go on and defeat Chinese players Xiang 'TH000' Huang & Weiliang 'Fly' Lu in the playoffs to reach the Grand Final, no simple feat.

It was a tournament where the experienced soldiers fell early on with Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li rock bottom in the group stage, and Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin sending Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang out in the first round of the playoffs. Happy was also in the fight for bronze place against Fly100%, but unlike WCG the Russian was unable to grasp third place and suffered a 2-1 defeat to finish fourth.

ESWC Cheonan Final Standings

1. Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán - $10,000
2. June 'Lyn' Park - $4,000
3. Weiliang 'Fly' Lu - $1,000
