SK Gaming player June 'Lyn' Park defeated Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim in Semi-finals to become third South Korea representative at ESWC Masters of Cheonan. As International Esports Group (IEG) granted WeMade FOX’s Night elf player Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang and mTw’s Orc player Du Seop 'WhO' Chang direct qualification beforehand, two finalists, contrary to initial four, in the South Korea qualifier will advance to the third tour of ESWC Master series in Cheonan, South Korea.
The qualifier comprises of five knockout rounds and players play one game against their respective opponents at pre-decided map. June 'Lyn' Park yesterday found himself in a much tougher Group B, in other words lower half bracket, together with Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee, Hyo Sub 'FoCuS' Eom, Dae Hui 'FoV' Cho, Seo Woo 'ReiGn' Kang, Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim, Seong Deok 'SoJu' Lee and Jin Woo 'WinNers' Kim, but avoided most of them in the lowest quarter bracket.
Following defeats of Dong Hwan 'viOlet' Kim, Eun Soo 'Practice' Lee and WinNers, Lyn had to take on his former team-mate ReMinD in a bid to qualify, the third meeting in a week between the duo. Despite his earlier back-to-back defeats to Lyn, the Night elf player is in terrific form as of late, not only beat Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin, ReiGn, Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn and Manuel 'GrubbY' Schenkhuizen in the past week, but Check and FoV en route to Semi-finals in the qualifier as well.
In the Semi-finals, Lyn’s continuous pressure on ReMinD’s shop at tier 2 left the Night elf player nothing to do but guarded in his base in most of the time as he could not buy instrumental items like staff, potion and orb, while Lyn was able to level his Tauren Chieftain to an ideal level in the process. When ReMinD eventually had his shop up and running, bought aforementioned items and left his base, his 50-food army failed to match Lyn’s 70-food army in the last several encounters.
In the upper bracket, Night elf player Deok Man 'SocceR' Youn defeated All For One’s Human player Jong Seok 'ReprisaL' Lee to get hold of another place in tomorrow’s ESWC Masters of Cheonan.
