ImageID Software has announced a new patch for May. It will contain a rework of the practice section, adding tutorials and new maps. Also Quake Live will be at Quakecon 2009.

With the rework of the practice section starting a new practice game will be very similar to the system for private games that ID is working on. Along with this new practice section comes tutorials about rocket and strafe jumping.

"For each skill we've developed a practice arena with challenges ranging from the very basic to the advanced."

The new maps will be rolled out over a few weeks time along with information about them. Mid-match balance is also being improved with different types of voting options potentially being a part of it.

The troubled new servers in Sweden and Poland are getting fixed along with ID Software recognizing the problems some people have with Punkbuster.

"We are working with the PB developers to set up some one-on-one time in IRC with individuals experiencing problems, so that we can better understand and solve these issues."

The leaderboard will be back and several "competition sites" will get access to private servers and support as ID hopes that Quakecon will be the start of esports events featuring Quake Live. Yes, Quake Live will have its own tournament at Quakecon 2009.

The official announcement with all the details can be found here.
