Giants on Wednesday night unveiled their new Warcraft III team with two Finland national team players Samuli 'elfittaja' Sihvonen and Juha-Matti 'Satiini' Bäckström.
The newly founded Warcraft III team is the third team that the Valencia-based gaming organisation added to their category this week following their CS:S team and CoD4 team as Giants consider themselves “in a position to build upon the great foundations we already have in place and push forwards within eSports.” the press release reads.
Both of the Giants’ new arrivals, Samuli 'Elfittaja' Sihvonen and Juha-Matti 'Satiini' Bäckström had been off the radar in professional gaming scene for a while. Whilst elfittaja is rumoured to have virtually put an end to his WC3 career and turned to play DotA after he left EYE Sports in January, Satiini and his former team-mates in Team Ninja Turtles failed to land a sponsorship, and the 21-year-old said he is “grateful” to Giants, given the current tough economic decline.
“Hello everyone! I’m happy that Giants is giving us this chance to once again prove our worthiness to the Warcraft III community, exceptionally grateful for this because at this moment the WC3 scene has really a lot of freelancers so this is a good opportunity. Hopefully we can live up to expectations and show people some good games and action.”
The team, in the meantime, drops hint on a possible third addition in the near future to boost their bid for the next seasons of NGL and WC3L.
