PETA raids seal killers

ImageSome PETA members were causing a little disruption on the U.S WhisperWind Realm after attacking all who would be killing animals in the area and a team of four baby seal killers.

After recently showing their anger towards Call of Duty and its "horrific display of dog abuse", where the aim is to kill the dogs attacking you, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) organised a little gathering on World of Warcraft to hopefully show players how to really treat animals.

This, however, was not a direct protest against the game itself. After all, PETA couldn't afford to make 11.5 million subscribers angry towards them. Instead, this was a peaceful protest in order to show players that even though they might kill beasts in game, they should learn not to do it in their life.

During this protest, you were able to join PETA, known in game as DHETA (Druids for the Humane and Ethical Treatment of Animals), a friendly guild with the aim to kill animal slaughters (NPCs and players).

"We hope that once players hear about PETA's WoW "seal hunt", they will then take the next step to learn more about the real-world seal hunt..."
"PETA's WoW "seal hunt" campaign is meant to be a fun and entertaining way to raise awareness about what is a very serious real-world issue--the slaughter of more than 338,000 baby harp seals which is taking place on the ice floes of Canada.

PETA chose WoW as one of many platforms to broadcast this message because we have many members and supporters who are also WoW gamers, and because the community-based nature of the game lends itself to discussion about these types of issues when they are entered into the community. We hope that once players hear about PETA's WoW "seal hunt", they will then take the next step to learn more about the real-world seal hunt, and what they can do to help stop it."

PETA follows on by telling incgamers that they understand the difference between in game and real life and hope "that WoW players [also] understand that there is a huge difference between battling mythical or extinct creatures in WoW and being cruel to real animals in real life."

Their next "raid" was planned for today on the US WhisperWind realm, at 13:00 EST. Unfortunately, players in the official WoW forum seem to not quite get the message as most posts claim that they want to corpse-camp PETA.
