The highly anticipated sequel for the world’s most famous RTS game could only work through Battle.net. As StarCraft II may be released without a multiplayer LAN function. In this weeks Q&A session with StarCraft fans, Blizzard's Community Manager Kevin Yu answered most of the questions about the upcoming game without hesitation. Despite most questions being either the same or forwarded towards the gameplay, one question was addressed towards the multiplayer LAN functionality.
The Community manager wasn't able to properly answer whether the multiplayer LAN option will or will not be added in the game.
This could be true, as Blizzard has already decided to exclude this function from their other upcoming game Diablo III and more people on Battle.net could increase their profits from advertisements.

It's fun to play on LAN at a friend's... it's faster (and we all HATE the battlenet disconnection losses which affect our ladder ranking... or a just simply annoying).
btw, I think ID should/will do the same for QLive...
Just notice, how much clients (read: costumers of wc3 original disc) blizzard loses with discovering such platforms as ICCup, GGC, some chinese program, even Hamachi. All of them allow people to play the game through internet without having original disc. Blizzard just want to disable possibility to use 3rd part software. They dont want to lose $_$
Maybe battle.net will have some options special for LAN games, who knows. But to enter battle.net you will need to have registered copy.
Thats my opinion.
sweet memories :D
Sorry for the swearing. I had to.
Fuck you blizzard , i hope u choke into ur own vomit. If u think that because Starcraft , Warcraft , Diablo were so successful games and now just because ur name is Blizzard all ur crap is gonna be famous and popular - it wont be for long I tell you
I know a group of friends that play sc1 only in LAN, cuz they only like playing multiplayer games between friends and they don't have the need to join b.net to do so. Then, they only need 1 CD-Key for playing in LAN... In SC2 playing in LAN won't be possible, so my friends will have to buy 5 SC2 if they want to continue playing together, since the only way to play multiplayer games will be B.net, which requieres different CD-Keys for each one...
The question is... ¿will my friends buy 5 SC2 or stay in SC1 if the only thing they want is having some fun from time to time? I think they'll choose the second option, as many ppl will do.
I don't get companies they punish the ones that do have it legally!
sad news i think, the server has to be top, when the players shouldnt scream for Garena etc..
