Sting: Poker could kill cybersports in Russia

ImageRussian Orc player Yuri "Sting" Sheremetov has been quizzed by Fragster.de about WICKED, NGL and Russia and its poker plague.

"I'm afraid HoT and ToD will play and we other players will not. Actually I think I'm able to play better than them"
Recently Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn and Yoan 'ToD' Merlo joined the ranks of WICKED eSports and became Yuri 'Sting' Sheremetov's new team-mates, and Sting expressed being unhappy about the new additions.

"I have to confess I was not happy about it because of the new system in the WC3L," said Sting in an interview with Fragster.de, "I'm afraid HoT and ToD will play and we other players will not. Actually I think I'm able to play better than them."

"I dont know how much they practise at the moment, because we don't really talk to each other," said Sting. There seems to clearly be some tension between Sting and his new team-mates but Sting believes the rivalry could have a positive effect. "this way everybody is highly motivated and trains a lot. This will help the team a lot."

"A lot of players like Xyligan or Titan started to play poker and I guess this terrible game could even kill cybersports in Russia"
And how can WICKED manage to recruit top players when every other organisation is removing them? "My team has got two sponsors so we have a high budget.

That is the reason why we can pay HoT and ToD," explained Sting, "WICKED eSports pays 80-90% overall, so they pay ToD and HoT. And they pay me and another player, too. The other sponsor pays the rest of the money."

Sting also mentions how Poker is having an effect on the Warcraft3 scene in Russia. "We have got a poker problem at the moment here in Russia," said Sting, "a lot of players like Xyligan or Titan started to play poker and I guess this terrible game could even kill cybersports in Russia."
