Eight teams in total were invited or had qualified before for this KODE5 USA Regional Final but only the first placed team of each Regional Final will be able to go to the KODE5 Global Final in Russia. On Saturday, 14th March 2009 those eight teams started off in a Double Elimination bracket finishing the whole tournament in only one day.

The oldschool players of both compLexity and Team EG struggled right from the beginning with compLexity losing their first match. Team EG on the other hand won their first match but then lost twice in a row being knocked out early. Complexity still managed to get two more wins in the Lowerbracket until they got beaten by a strong x3o.

X3o have improved with every match they played until being qualified for the Grand Final where Gravitas Gaming was waiting already. Even then they defeated Gravitas Gaming with 16-2 on the first map (de_inferno) but Gravitas took revenge right after that on the second map winning de_nuke with 16-3.

This means Gravitas Gaming have qualified for the KODE5 Global Finals in Moscow, Russia being played in May. More Regional Finals are being played in the upcoming weeks such as the KODE5 Denmark, Sweden or Germany.
