Hasselhoff started with Pacman and Asteroids

ImageDavid Hasselhoff who will be a character in upcoming Wii title Ready 2 Rumble admits to being a keen gamer starting off with retro games like Pacman and Donkey Kong.

In the second part of the mini-interview with MTV Multiplayer the former Knight Rider opens up about his gaming interest. "I started like everyone else did years ago with “Pac-Man,” “Donkey Kong” and “Asteroids.” I never got into it like a lot of my nerdy friends did that would just go play for hours. I was just always quote-unquote “in the game.” David Hasselhoff has even inspired his own fan games including Pac-Hoff and Hoff-Frogger.

"All these fans invent these crazy games with The Hoff. One of them is about eating David Hasselhoff. It’s great. I can eat my head all day long," said Hasselhoff. "It seems that all the games that are coming out with me are about hurting The Hoff. [laughs] I don’t know what that means, but I’m kind of enjoying it." Hasselhoff is set to be parodied in upcoming Wii title "Ready 2 Rumble" and it was the opportunity to knock out a former colleague that appealed to the former Baywatch legend.

Image"The first thing I said [to Atari when they asked me to promote the game] was, “Am I the only idiot celebrity that’s going to promote this?

They said, no, you are our first choice. Yeah, right. I’m sure Schwarzenegger is happy about this. I’m sure the overweight John Travolta is into it… Justin Timberlake is going to be real happy about this.

"Am I the only idiot celebrity that’s going to promote this? They said, no, you are our first choice. Yeah, right."
But they said, “This isn’t Justin Timberlake. This isn’t you. It’s a parody. You’re Dewey Strudel.”

I said, “Who do I get to knock out?”
They said, “Syphon Cruel.”
I said, “Who’s that?”
They said, “Simon Cowell.”
I said, “Deal!”

On a more serious note Hasselhoff said it was the fact the Wii actually involves real-life movement that made his interested. "The reason I like this game is because you’re not just sitting back and watching. You’re actually in the game," said Hasselhoff. "You’re actually able to punch and take out your aggressions… and you actually get a good workout. Be careful or you might pull your shoulder out doing an uppercut." Fair enough.
