Twelve teams attended the Extreme Masters III Continental Finals Europe but only four teams can make it to the Double Elimination Playoffs. Alternate and mTw made it to the Playoffs and now the Relegation matches are coming up where SK meet fnatic and ATS face MYM.The first placed team of each group is advancing to the four team Double Elimination playoffs while the second and third play each other cross-group. On Day 1 mTw already showed a good performance beating all of their opponents in Group A and advancing with a clear 5-0-0 score with fnatic placing second and ATS third.
Group B was a lot closer and the surprising team Alternate have qualified as first placed team, defeataing everyone but MYM. Followed by MYM which lost to SK and mousesports. Third placed team is SK with a 2-1-2 score getting defeated by both Germans and tieing Crack Clan.
This leads to the Relegation matches being fnatic vs SK Gaming as well as ATS vs MYM. The big clash between the Swedes so early again which will knock out one of the teams. Fnatic have just changed their lineup by adding Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund and Rasmus 'GuX' Ståhl.
They said they did not practice as much obviously due to the changes but they seemed to play a good game yesterday during the groupstage coming out second only getting defeated by mTw. SK did not have their best day too as Marcus 'zet' Sundström said in an interview with the ESL they were probably at only 70% or lower.
The other match features ATS.dk which lost to mTw and fnatic but won Blank, n!faculty and Millenium. MYM on the other side had a stronger group losing to SK and Mousesports but winning Alternate, Crack Clan and emuLate. MYM always seemed to have trouble getting into the game at first losing the first couple of rounds but making a strong comeback after. This has been the case for them for a long time but in an interview they said they were practicing for the last two months and feel quite good.
Also ESL-TV is streaming the match of SK vs fnatic which you can watch for free.
