Two-time World Cyber Games winner Xiaofeng “Sky” Li is keen to claim his third in the competition this year.E-sports
The E-sports industry has been hit by the recession as not only multi-gaming organisations are laying off employees, but also event hosts are cutting down prize pool. But Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li, who enjoys extraordinary popularity in China, believes E-sports will ride out the economic downturn thanks to its enormous fan base: “I think it’s predictable (that heavyweights are rebuilding their squads), since what they paid for their players before were simply excessive in this industry. Regarding to the recession, I think E-sports will be fine because there are always many gamers.”
WCG
The World Elite player became one of the E-sports icons in China after winning WCG back-to-back in 2005 and 2006, but following a defeat to legendary Norwegian player Olav 'Creolophus' Undheim in the overall final of WCG 2007 that put end to his unbeaten run in that competition, he didn’t qualify for the Grand Final last year. Having said that, he is looking to restore his long-lost pride this time around, especially on home soil. “There is nothing more important to me than WCG title this year, especially the WCG that will be held in China.”
Best player of each race
What fans like to talk most is the best players in the world in their eyes, which is up to everyone’s own taste at the end of the day. While Yoan 'ToD' Merlo and Xuwen 'InFi' Wang are two best players of their kind if you ask Sky, SK Gaming player June 'Lyn' Park is top of his list when it comes to Orc, however not leading Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu by huge margin. He told 52pk.com, “(The best players of each race are) Moon as per NE, Lyn as per Orc, FoV as per Undead, and ToD and infi as per Human. Both Lyn and Fly100% are top-notched so you can hardly tell who is much stronger. They have their unique style.”
