o.O
no money for scrubs
....because gaming is fun?
Guess eSports has got an crisis also :(
It's much better than the whole organization being bankrupt. At least, there's still competition that will contribute to the development of eSports. We should be grateful ESL is still alive.
At this time, we, as part of the eSports community, should support them so then ESL will be back as a great organization once again.
1st Place - 0 Euro
2nd Place - 0 Euro
good too see they get paid the amount they deserve
ESL was the only league generous enough to offer up prize money (and usually also the only one to be taken seriously) for most of it's games, so "why cry?"
my 2 cts
The gamers are spoiled, If people didn't care about the money they probby would be still playing the EuroCup and NationsCup on ClanBase.
The fact remains that the ESL system and webpage sucks. However, they have money (and pays it out).
To quote from that:
"Hilgers: It is very important for 2009 that we use our resources in a targetted way. That means improving existing products, especially the ESL website. But it also means we have to check some products for profitability. This affects especially those leagues, that we have to cross-subsidise at the moment because they have no or few own sponsors. We do not like this, but it is necessary in order to be prepared for all contingencies.
Which tournaments do you mean by that?
Hilgers: The ENC has always been a tournament that had to be run by cross-subsidisation, it was always hard to merchandise. The ENC will definitely exist in the future but at the moment we are talking about the conditions and which extent makes the most sense this year regarding both disciplines and prize money."
@kul1: I'll second that!
@Einh!: I'll second that too!
20,721 106,076 Counter-Strike: Source
20,566 25,925 Team Fortress 2
15,316 80,305 Counter-Strike
You do know that 90% of little kids will rather play TF2 and/or CSS cos of better "graphics".
I for one know a few people who started playing recently and when you mention CS to them, they instantly think of CSS, not even knowing about CS. Most of those players you mention don't know shit about the community and are just casual players.
I have all three games you mentioned... CSS i just a bad version of CS1.6 ( I think i played once or twice and never turned it on again), TF2 is very fun to play with my friends and I'd rather see it get money then CSS.
