WoW to save the world?

ImageA Stanford university professor, named Byron Reeves, believes that the world's biggest MMORPG game, World of Warcraft, could be the world rescuer.

This is what Reeves has been researching for the last days. His theory (via Kotaku) says that it is possible to save the world by combining the game and the energy-saving tools plugged to sockets at home.

Smart Meters monitor the home electricity and sends the data to local power companies. But Reeves notes that, if these tools upload the data into the game as well, it might turn out to be helpful for the environment world-wide; as an encouraging method.

According to Reeves, players may be rewarded with in-game money and other prizes if a player turns all the unnecessary lights and devices off at home.

The less electricity you spend, the better reward you will get in World of Warcraft.
