As previously announced, DTS has selected dota as one of the games to be played with numerous big names likely to take part fighting for a huge prize pool of $6000!The dota tournament will comprise of 16 teams, which will either be invited by the organisers, or have to qualify through elimination rounds. Below are the teams invited so far, and how the 16 is made up:
As we can see from the invitees, there are already 2 Ukranian teams parcipitating, and with 3 more qualifiers designed especially for them, we could well see some smaller names making an entry into the scene.
As for the other 4 invitees we can only guess who they will be. Some decent performances have been shown all round in the dota scene lately, including dmZ, MeT, SK, Dignitas, and IGG. Although with 3 more qualifier tournaments for international teams we can expect to see a lot of big names taking part.
The prize pool currently stands at a very respectable $6000, split up as below:
1st place: $3000
2nd place: $2000
3rd place: $1000
With such a large prize pool, teams will no doubt be preparing hard for this tournament and giving it everything they have in order to qualify. The tournament itself will be taking place in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine between 16th and 17th of May.
