The second event in Germany's fifth National Virtual Touring Car Championship season takes place today in Valencia, at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The initial race two weeks ago, where no clear favourite emerged, went a long way toward showing how narrow the skill gap between these competitors is. While VRTCC newcomer and SK Gaming pilot Danny 'HuskY' Engels managed to win the first race in Hockenheim a fortnight ago, an unfortunate crash in the beginning of the second race knocked him out of the running for first.
Danny's teammate Dennis 'MAXXFrag' May performed rather strong as well, his two fifth place finishes put SK Gaming's BMW team in second place overall. Only HP Racing were able to top that, whose racer Ronny Hähnel came out top of the 99 participants in Hockenheim two weeks ago.
The official practice session has proven tonight's race will be anyone's to take, with so many adept and experienced drivers showing up to compete. Danny 'HuskY' Engels, Guido 'Modde' Muddemann and Björn 'Biertrinker' Kajewski are all aiming for a trophy tonight, though all three expect a very close race.
Additionally, Marco 'Jay' Schade and Hendrik 'b0nd' von Eye will be competing in VRTCC's Rookie League on Wednesday of this week. They will face 30 VRTCC Rookies on Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
If you would like to acquaint yourself with GTR Evolution and take a look at the track or cars from tonight's race then take a look at SK Gaming's "One Lap with…" tutorial.
This episode features a lap with Danny 'HuskY' Engels in SK's BMW E90 320si STCC on the Circuit Ricardo Tormo of Valencia.
A German language live stream provided by MultiBC will be available tonight at 20:30 CET, for those of you who wish to follow the match live.
