Hi, some of you might recall this thread http://www.sk-gaming.com/forum/12/1340300-Zotac_fails . Well buckle your seat belts because after 5 months of restraining myself for even trying to play the said cup. I though that with months of experience the way the cup is run would have improved, boy was I wrong.

I checked in for the cup, waited for the grid. Failure ensues, Death Trap was set as the first map. Now that wouldn't be a problem, new maps are good. However people start spaming the channel and one of the admin announces that the 1st map will be Terenas Stand. After a few refreshes of the grid page, the switch was indeed made and TS was first while DT was the 6th map.

I start searching for my opponent, trying to filter out the russian nickname spam on GameSports Cup Room 01 (yes it's 2009 and they still haven't figured out there's a /find command sigh...). I try on irc as well and no luck so at 16:30 the defwin time I proceed to telling an admin:

My second opponent found me even before the defwin time so I message him after the grid is updated so we can play. He's from Singapore and handles english decently, he also writes more then 3 words in a sentence/line (thus not spamming 2 words at a time like most people do). Even though we would probably have problems finding a host I notice myself smiling. I think it's because it's round 2 and still no "privet", "kurwa" or ")))))))))".

We both start looking for a USA host but after a few admins I pm the same admin on irc, maybe he can help us... Plus, my new asian acquaintance is losing patience:

I decided to try my luck and actually play on the dude's host, some mild delay, very few spikes but yes, it's playable. The matchup is HU vs UD, I manage to win.( if anyone wants to kill some time I uploaded the game here: http://www.demonreps.com/4HOE/details-6289/ ).

So far so good in the cup. No problems with waiting for the win, my second opponent was a nice guy with whom I had no communication problems and we even solved the host issue. He reported the loss. Woohoo round 3... or is it ?

17:03 I refresh the grid page to see who's in round 3, it looks like I still have some waiting to do for 2 others to finish] their series. But what's this, my round 1 opponent messages me to play. I don't have the log since it was Garena PM and I usually close those windows out of habit (unlike irc) but the conversation went something like this:
He wants to play, I reply saying he's too late and he should check the grid, not only I got a win vs him, I'm also in round 3. After a few going back and forth on the subject he proceeds to calling me an idiot and says that he will message pala and he'll have the win. I smille and reply with a "sure". 10 seconds later I refresh the page and surprise, he's round 3 instead of me (yes aparently not only did he win me he also won my round 2 opponent). I start getting frustrated and start pm-ing the admin on irc. I'll just paste the whole chat but in sections splited by some comments:

It took a while for him to answer me, I used the "!admin" command on the main channel and as usual had to wait a few minutes before being answered. The same frustrating feeling I had when I played the last zotac 5 months ago started to creep up on me.

/facepalm, How can he even say that, It's 1 hour after the cup start and he himself gave me the win after checking that he isn't online and that he indeed DID NOT TRY to contact me. I sadly got the notion that this person doesn't have a grasp of common sense. Before you read any further you have to understand that a person in a deciding position such as a referee or an admin, once making a decision (being good or bad) on a matter, that decision is final and it canot be changed. Most people know this, he however does not. I decide that at least I should try to make him see he's flaw in thinking:

What I said was indeed a bad reaction, however as just an user and cup participant and giving my history with this cup along with the current situation didn't make me reply with kindness or objectiveness.

Yes from my point of view that's how it looked. Now ofcourse he could be right that he was the one tinkering the grid but that isn't the problem at all really. Why does he go back on a DECISION he made? Why are you an admin dear sir? Do you think that all you have to do is enter results and stream games for good players? No. You have to make decisions in the cup and good or bad, not go back on them. At least you remind yourself of this later while repeating the "play or lose" phrase.

I started getting sarcasting because of the "u" usage. Listen, because the world is in an economic recession, doesn't mean you have to use less letters, you're not paying for them are you?

Good memory, now why didn't this kick in earlier? Why didn't you tell the other guy that because he didn't not make any effort in time that a decision was made in his detriment that he didn't even bother to fix until a whole hour after the cup started. Do you feel more of an admin if you give people choices? Instead of standing by your decisions is the fact that you give people "options" your idea of conducting a cup? Or you thought that you would please more people if you use the "play or lose" card? Thus I would play another game in the cup and my opponent would be happy because he got his chance too. Listen, if you want to give options you should have told him that because he was lazy and didn't move a muscle in his interest that you can only suggest to me that I can play him too and not force the fact.

Unlike you, I'm not a people-pleaser. I'll neither give you a pass for making a mistake neither my opponent a shot at the game (normally I would have but the way he messaged me, acting superior calling me names and stating that he will have the win and I'm out, made me unwilling).

In the mindset I was in and because of my opponent's arogance I had the feeling that indeed he had some connections with the admins. Looking back on it now, it may have been nothing than an admin fluke, however I wouldn't totally rule that option out.

After all this annoying he even got me doing it, I typed "finnish" instead of "finish". I do listen to finnish metal bands a lot but it's still hard to confuse the two words...

This was again yet another horrible cup experience. Now this is just me, an average user and after all it's an online cup. The problem is that these individuals fail to learn from their mistakes again and again and this yields to bad tournament organisations, players having problems (TeD last year for instance) and creating disconfort for the viewing audience. So my question is, what's the basis for getting these guys? Are organisers just getting random people that want a larger e-peen (the admin/referee status provides that) so they minimize the costs for running tournaments? Or are these people not random but actually known or close friends to the orgas, either way why isn't anyone learning from this, you don't have to be a NASA scientist to figure things out.
