After the success of Blizzard's online arena tournament last year, the event returns again for 2009.The WoW news is coming thick and fast lately but the latest tidbit from Blizzard HQ is the best news yet for PvP fans. Information is sparse right now, but the official arena tournament will definitely return this year. Signups start next week (February 17, 2009) for a shot at the impressive cash prize:
In-game rewards include a new "Armored Murloc" vanity pet and a new title, Vanquisher.
Registration for the tournament realm costs £12/15€ and allows "access to the tournament realms for the duration of the six-week tourney." The tournament will take place in a 3v3 format again and the usual options for character customisation will be there. The tournament will be played at level 80 - no grinding involved here, just pure PvP action.
Whether or not this means that ESL will be granted a level 80 tournament realm for the Extreme Masters finals remains to be seen, but the signs look good.
More information will be available next week, including eligible countries.
