Electronic Arts, world's leading sports game developer has released statistics for one of its game franchises - the FIFA series.

EA revealed that around 1.25 million games are played on a daily basis for FIFA 09.

Over 141 million FIFA 09 games have been played on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 since the game's European launch last September, which is a 321 percent increase over their previous title, FIFA 08.

EA's vice president and executive producer for the franchise, Andrew Wilson's comment (via gamesindustry): "Online is the next great frontier in sports gaming. We are seeing a record number of individuals globally playing FIFA Soccer 09 online so we are focused on developing games that maximise the online experience."

After he added that a dedicated team developed FIFA 09 Ultimate Team, a game within the game, delivering a strategic new way to play FIFA Soccer 09 that will create hundreds of additional hours of playing time.
