SK DotA is currently playing the DotA-League Masters in Hannover being the LowerBracket Final. Tim "merusame" Ellersiek has talked to the guys after day one where they lost to MYM but played a great LowerBracket so far.Hey guys, first of all welcome to Germany. Can you give us a brief summary of the happenings so far?
Snow: Hi, I think we got a little unlucky with the brackets, facing MYM in the first game. But I am confident that we will come back from the lower bracket and meet KS.int in the grand finals.
Hailo: Most games were quite easy so far except the first. It took some nerves to take down the German team of diamondZ. They played really defensive and made it hard for us to get into their base at end the game.
How come did you lose to MYM in the first place?
Loda: It is always hard to play vs MYM. They are the biggest opponent – our “nemesis”. Their playstyle is perfect versus ours. In DotA you have various kinds of stragteies and they work in different ways versus different teams. We were playing really good at the beginning but half way through our TP failed somehow because we picked a strategy which is actually good on paper but didn’t work out for us too well. Tompa can only play two heroes and they banned them, so.. (laughs) ! No for real, we just didn’t execute our strategy good enough to win that game. For those who don’t understand dota so well: even after thirty minutes of good teamplay five can turn the game into a real disaster – in this case for us.
So what can your fans expect from your first match tomorrow versus the Danish team MET?
Loda: They can expect a win and anything other than that is seriously a big disappointment for us. In my opinion, MET doesn’t play on lan as good as online. All our official matches so far have been in favour of SK, yet they have a couple of amazing players and are not to underestimate.
Hailo: I think it will be an action packed game because they have a similar play style to ours which usually results in a lot of kills and thrilling action.
Kwom: I think we have more routine than them. The biggest reason why we will win is because we have played a longer while than them. On top of that I also think that we are able to play in a smarter way which will come in handy for us.
What do you think about the tournament setup in general?
Snow: It is a little annoying that we have had to change computers during the games. Another thing is that some german teams had the blessing to set next to the broadcasters. Information therefor about our game can leek in their direction which can act as a huge advantage for their game.
Loda: The whole tournament is being executed very professionally because the admins know what kind of game it is - compared to ESWC that didn’t really know what DotA was about. The System though has little unfair. Dotaleague didn’t seed any teams which lead to us playing MYM in the first game. The admins also turned the lower braket around which meant that we had to face diamondZ instead of wicked which made it even harder for us to proceed. So what I want to say: if the admins change any matches, then from the beginning and not in the middle of the tournament, to keep two teams meeting only once.
So what about you as a team. What will be happening in 2009?
Loda: We are going to stick together for a longer while and attend some tournaments in Europe. The team is evolving all the time. Picking up Snow was a hard decision but came out good. Starcraft2 will be hopefully coming out too soon which we are all eager to play.
Hailo: As long as we enjoy the game you can look forward to a SK DotA!
Maybe a weird question for a interview but why did you just buy liquor for over 100€?
Hailo: Alcohol in Germany compared to Sweden is so cheap!
Snow: Like slutty girls we like to go all the way (giggles).
Tompa: Like the Pandarian Brewmaster would say: “Have one on the house!”
What do you think about this interview so far?
Hailo: It’s unique.
Kwom: We would rather have SK Gaming pay for payTV in my room and stop asking silly questions (laughs).
Loda: I feel that this guy doesn’t really know what he is doing but he is a great guy and I would do anything for him. Did you also know that people think I am too good looking for gaming? (can’t stop laughing).
Snow: Before this interview I was actually bit nervous due to the thought of being interview by a celebrity but now I can’t imagine how I could have been! (while he is hugging KwoM).
Tompa: starts to dance and pulls off his shirt and screams “I Love this song” !
Well then, good luck tomorrow and thank you!
