The ESA announced today that registration for E3 2009 is now open, and that several high-profile companies who weren't part of the event in 2008 will have a presence there in 2009.Today the Entertainment Software Association announced not only that registration was open, but that floor space was flying out the door, so to speak.
"With robust exhibitor sales, high attendee interest, and strong commitments from multiple industry sectors, we are going to ensure the full excitement and energy of this industry is on display," said ESA CEO Michael D. Gallagher in a statement.
In 2007 the event was downsized considerably and then again in 2008, participation was changed to an invitation only affair and the 'tends of thousands' was cut down to just 5000, which is why the past two E3 events have been pegged as the worst ever.
That said, expectation for 2009 has reached heights not seen since the early days of the E3, when tens of thousands of attendees poured into the Los Angeles Convention Center to experience the sounds and sights of one of the largest game conventions on the planet.
Activision Blizzard, Disney, MTV and Microsoft are just a few of the big names found on the already packed sign up sheet.
E3 2009 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 2-4.
