Blizzard has updated its arena ranking system yet again today. In the most revealing discussion of the new system to date, Blizzard poster, Kalgan, told the world that the new system has been altered again. First up, he said that "personal ratings will now always trend toward Team Ratings." The limitations for points gains and losses have also been increased to 12.
The rating cap has also been increased "...to about 2800 to more accurately reflect what was possible under the old system." Kalgan also said that players below 1500 rating will receive the same points as those above.
In a Q&A with forum-posters, Kalgan also revealed further details about the system. Speaking openly, he admitted that it should now be easier for teams to get high ratings. "However, I'd still expect a very small percentage of the population to get the arena master achievement, by no means would I call it trivialized," he said.
In the same post, Kalgan also denied the widespread rumour that gear affects the ratings: "none of the rating systems have the slightest clue or are in any way affected by what gear you have. "

blizz is very retarded
I don't really see what was wrong with the old system. Sure, getting bashed by new teams of gladiator ranked players was kind of annoying but i never felt that it was a big enough problem to warrant the huge changes blizzard have made.
the encounters themselves being very easy and still they fail, Teron ghost anyone?
Unfortunately the player base of WoW consists of mainly those players so blizzard
tries to keep those players interested in playing, even if it means destroying the
fun for the real pvpers / pvers.
The old system was fine as you said, myself was a gladatior and actually i didnt like
to bash new teams, i'd rather play vs high rated. If 'noobs' want to get a shot at
a gladiator rank or anything alike, then they just need to try just as hard as others
and not get it the easy way once again, but blizz wont allow it, to let them work hard
for it, because it 'ruins their fun'.
This reminds me of how many 'noobs' were playing druid/warrior, druid/rogue etc. and
get easy gladiator eventhough they are noobs.. but thats just a balance issue that had
to be solved in BC.
Besides.. in the end, some people dont do pvp because they dont like it, it has
nothing to do with balance or any stuff alike, they just dont like it.. but the few whiners
on the blizz forums keep prevailing with there 6273478472 topics a day there.
"Kalgan also said that players below 1500 rating will receive the same points as those above."
Thats just really wrong...
I mean, its something nice about the new system. And that is that it force the high rated to play alot more. But what I dont like, is that it dosnt require good winning ratio to get rank 1. Wich is just wrong...
Just delete arena.
Ot: new arena system sucks balls, noobs getting 2k rating without a problem, gg..
glad cap will go to 2.5k imo with his stupid change. You used to be able to see who actually was good in arena by watching their items.
Right now you can see a full deadly glad geared player and it can be a total and utter noob, who just happened to play 300-400 games. Bigass sigh.
Perhaps the only positive thing is that arena becomes more active as playing much automatically means getting high rating. I guess this is one of those "What were they thinking?" moments.
Arena doesn't excist 5/6 years.
Besides, never ever grow up. Life is to short for that.
To quote; "We never really grow up. We just learn how to act in public."
Anyway, the point is. WoW is not an esport. Never will be and never was. If people start to figure that out, then this game has a chance to be an competitive game. How ever, as long we are taking this to seriously, then it won't have.
The game it-self ain't to serious about himself..
Blizzard is also having their goal with "moving" foward there for i think they want to make a fresh system, but new stuff isnt always good. Its the same with everyone wanting the "pre-tbc" realms back but they wanna work on new stuff and not old stuff.
Atleast thats my opinion.
.....
full t7.5 noobs = 1800 rating
blue geared gladiator = 1450 rating
hmmm...
I remember mc/bwl/aq & naxx. Those instances was pretty much standing still and dpsing.
Move from fire ect.
PvP wise the focus was on bgs in vanilla wow, in tbc & wotlk blizzard turned it on arena.
I believe there would be even more players interested in PvP if they made bgs more important, like they were in vanilla. I also beilieve they either should make a new colour on the items, ie many more legendary items, or turn the purple into blues.
Becuase now a days it takes 2-3 days at 80 to get full epic. 0'five it took 4-8 months, and the amount of players which joined the game back then was way higher, although other elements obviousily affect this.
oh come on..
Which imo is the wrong way to go. Im for active arena ladders but not like this.
But that would've been easier to fix by addnig savage / hatefull weapons into the game.
