SK.Kwana WOW Korea

By Kwang Rok 'Kwana' Park
Jan 29, 2009 00:21

My name is Kwang-Rok Park aka SK.Kwana, I'll be playing for SK gaming's WOW team as of February 1st.

When Hyoga told me that SK Gaming wanted me on their team, I couldn't believe it, I was so surprised. It's great honor to be part of SK Gaming's WoW team, to wear the uniform and feature the team name. I would like to share this happiness with all the people who played PvP with me and my girlfriend.

When my friend suggested I should play World of Warcraft, I could not make up my mind to pick one of the Horde classes without Death Knight and Paladin by that time. As a player who liked to play freely, I picked the Mage which has Portal and Conjure water and food skills. Since then, I played Mage as my main character for a long time. I always had greater interest in PvP than Instant Dungeon Play, so I often played the war against the Alliance in the field.

When Burning Crusade was released, I participated in the 2007 Blizzcon 5vs5 Arena regional qualifier as Mage, and my team had advanced to the regional final with Warrior + hunter + mage + paladin + shaman combination. ( The winning team of the Blizzcon that year also used Warrior + hunter + mage + paladin + shaman combination in the tournament), however, we were very disappointed when we found out that there was a problem with my WoW account which meant we were unable to participate in the tournament.

Since then I made another account with my name and started to play Mage in order to play 5vs5 constantly with my teammates. As a result, I received Merciless Gladiator in the 2nd season.

The 5v5 tournament format in Blizzcon was too complicated and the viewers had a difficult time watching 10 players in one match. As the format was changed to 3v3 later, my team had switched to RMP combination with which we took 3rd place in Ongamenet WoW tournament in February 2008.

From March to July that year, I participated in the Blizzcon regional qualifier and won the second tournament as Mage in team 'Royal Secret'. In the regional final we lost our opportunity to participate in Blizzcon after a loss against team 'Council of Mages'

Later in the year our team 'Kwana' had advanced to the semi-final in Gom TV WoW tournament season 1 with a RMP combination. Some team members refused to play the new expansion after the tournament, so our team eventually disbanded. As I searched for a new team, I was scouted by the team 'Council of Mages' and participated in the ESL Asia qualifier in November of 2008. On the first day, we had advanced to next round with the record of 15 - 0, but the 3.0 patch changed completely changed the tactics used against the same RMP combination. The tournament was held a week after I joined the team, but with such a short period of time to practice with our new line-up we had to settle for the result we got, advancing to semi-final.

With the lesson we learned at the ESL tournament, our team had worked long and hard to better ourselves. We have spent a long period of time practicing and are preparing for the next tournament. (Currently we are first place in 3vs3 Korea 1st Battle ground with 2227 point)
As 2008 WWI champion, team COM will apply the effort to create new and innovative strategies.

I would like to thank my parents who not only gave me the talent to play the game, but also supported me in my practice of the game. I also want to thank my friends Si Young Park and Su Ryong Kim who always emphasized that I need to be fearless. I was once vain and conceited, but in the future I plan to be more humble and I think I'll be a better player because of it.

As an SK Gaming team member, I will show great plays and results in future tournaments to reach the fans' expectation of the SK Gaming WoW team. Please do what you can to support us, we'll be forever greatful.

We won't let you down.
