Saw them live in the summer. Great band. Too bad they made Time to pretend and Electric eel (which are good songs though), which were picked up by a lot of listeners and radio stations..
When i saw them live the crowd cheered so much when they played the "pop" songs off of the album, but when they did what they like; psychedelic guitar solos etc... The crowd was totally bored.
MGMT described themselves as psychedelic indie pop in an interview in Dazed and Confused magazine before they became "famous", before they lauched the album. They also said in the article that the "Oracular Spectacular" album didnt come out as they intended it to. The record company mixed it as they wanted a bit too much. Oh well. The album is one of 2008's best imo.
Im hoping MGMT does the same as Peter, Bjorn and John; with a huge hit and an album which sold pretty well.. Their next album was their independant release where they sang/talked half of it in swedish. They did excatly what they wanted. Im sure if MGMT stick to more psychedelic stuff (their own stuff) they will do something grand o/
Just my two cents. No need to whine about if you like them, i do too!
i like this song a lot :) gj

On a side note, I saw these guys live when they supported radiohead in manchester. Was awesome. Needed some LSD to fully appreciate it though...
