A new account phishing scam has surfaced that appears to target Steam users, first luring them in with the promise of a free copy of Far Cry 2 then stealing their account information.
Kotaku.com is reporting that the scam offers a free copy of Far Cry 2 as a Steam gift via an official looking email from support@steampowered.com.
The email links the recipient to a fake version of the Steam community page complete with log in area, which is how details are stolen.
The official Steam community page's URL should read https://steamcommunity.com/, anything that looks like it might be a dummy version of the webpage probably is a dummy version.
The official Steam page has details on how to reclaim a stolen account here. If you think you may have visited this page then it's probably a good idea to change your account information, you never can be too careful.

tnx sk.
for the internet beginners, 3 basic rules to keep you safe.
1. login pages ALWAYS have https instead of http, for eaxmple: https://store.steampowered.com/login/
2. there will always be a lock icon with a certificate
3. steam or other legal entities will never provide you with the login link. they will always require you to type the URL manually and update your account if needed.
(if anyone else finds more phishing links i would be glad if they can send it my way).
(steampowered.com )it worked for me.
There they dont want your password its only a link to a gamer magazine site were you can get a cd key for free.
Please don't ban me this is real.
I HATE PHISHING
