After recruiting their new American team TeamEG now also announced the Canadian team with three former players of Sway. If you are familiar with the Canadian scene you will remember the names and they will also play their first match against the US team on Thursday, 22nd January 2009.
Three of the players are coming from the Sway team of 2008 and together with the two returning players Halston 'Tekn1kal' Bellintani and also Nick 'Lalonde' Lalonde the new TeamEG Canada has been announced. Sway have placed 5th-6th at the ESL Extreme Masters III Montreal in 2008 where they lost to fnatic and Gravitas.
"We are very excited to be a part of such a prestigious organization as EG for 2009," remarked Ian "FuzzyHat" Olson, former Director of Sway Gaming and new Division Manager for EG.ca Counter-Strike. "We're happy to be working with everyone at EG and are very thankful for the support they will be giving us this year. Our main goals are simple: Place well at every event we attend and represent Canada at all international tournaments. We're looking forward to these challenges and will work extremely hard to achieve our new goals."
"We considered a multitude of options for our Canadian Counter-Strike division before deciding on this lineup," explained Alexander Garfield, Executive Director of Team EG. "We left no stone unturned, and really considered every possible roster combination available to us. We thought long and hard about our options, and came to the conclusion that this group of players was the best fit for EG. 2008 was a great year for Sway Gaming's Counter-Strike team, and Dave, Matt, and Wilson played a huge role in that success. We think that teaming them up with Nick and Halston, two of our most talented, dedicated players, will help EG to once again raise the standards for Canadian Counter-Strike."
The team will be attending the CEVO-Professional, the new ESEA league as well as several North American events but their first match will be against Team EG US on Thursday, 22nd January 2009, more information about that match will be revealed later.

But the North American CS1.6 scene has been shuffled so much that we will just have to wait for tournaments and see how everyone plays! After all even the new coL and EG.us might be total failures (EVEN IF I DOUBT IT! :D)!
Good luck Canadians!
