ESL has announced plans for the world's first purpose-built esports arena.Situated in what is fast becoming the capital of esports, Chengdu, China, ESL's "esports arena" will be the first ever venue built solely for professional gaming. Jens Hilgers, CEO of ESL's backers, Turtle Entertainment, called the stadium "a clear sign of growth."
Inside there is room for 1,000 spectators to enjoy 2,000 square meters of electronic entertainment. Designed purely for esports, the building houses 200 top spec gaming machines for what ESL calls "the athletes of 21st century."
The arena will be opened at this weekend's Extreme Masters Continental Finals. Coverage of this event can be found here.
Pictures of the venue are available here.

but anyway good luck
"Wuhan Optical Valley Electronic Sports Stadium was created together with some help from the government of Wuhan and the Wuhan Hi Tech Group."
ESL still wasnt first tho.
The ESL will now have to rely on renting this out year round to other competitions, and hope they have enough money to shell out to rent it in the first place.
And this isn't the first E-Sports arena, as mentioned already by other users, the CGS had its own studios, as well, S.Korea has a number of studios dedicated to E-Sports.
I was thinking of just having like...a stage, with the competitors on it, with big drop down screens, etc. for spectators.
But you made something clear to me, if it is specifically designed for E-Sports, not only will the players get their practice rooms, but also, they can design it so the commentator noise doesn't effect the players, unlike if it were done the way I suggested.
already

Turtle Entertainment.
The Hilgers statement is from an ESL/TE press release that was focussed on the Intel Extreme Masters being the first tournament to be played there.
I was just pointing out that it was, that was all.
Edit, affentod fails at replying, blah
