Weiliang “Fly100%” Lu of Mousesports is over the moon following a prolonged 3-2 victory over Xiaofeng “Sky” Li of World Elite in PGL Season IV Grand Final."Unexpected winner"
Despite a double-triumph in NiceGameTV All-star tournament and Season 1 during his three-year-long professional gaming career, the soon to be 22-year-old Chinese international had yet to win anything offline, before today. “I am over the moon to win my first championship, which is also pretty unexpected to me because I rarely beat him before. It’s really unexpected,” he told Tatazu.com. “I thought I had only 30% to 40% chance to win before the Final. Since I didn’t really have any good solution to his tactic, I spent the whole night thinking of it. But I still didn’t have enough time to try out my ideas so I didn’t expect to win.”
Fly100% at his 100%
“I wasn’t nervous because I did not expect to win in the first place. I think I was playing at my 100%, while Sky was playing with more pressure on his shoulders so he was just at his 70% or 80%,” said Fly100%, who has enjoyed a phenomenal tournament in Chengdu, China, losing only one match in ten days of intense competition. “I focused mainly on countering Tower Rush in training prior to the Final. I had advantage at the beginning of the second game, but I was too hot-headed afterwards and gradually lost hold of my advantage. I could still win the game if I did not lose my hero. It was almost the same situation in the last game and I was thinking, ‘it was the last game anyway’ so I decided to play the time-game as I slowly gathered momentum.”
Extreme Masters ambition
While numbers of his PGL competitors will turn to fight for their respective teams in WC3L Season XIV Finals, the PGL winner will start training straightaway in a bid to put hands on the Extreme Masters Season III Continental Finals Asia trophy. “I want to play at the same level as in PGL and win the championship. Though I will hang out with my friends tonight, I will continue training tomorrow. The Lunar New Year is approaching so I am hoping for the best.”
