Half a year ago Austria hosted the exciting Euro 2008 in football. Today another great tournament is about to begin, the tinals of the EPS Alps Season VII. In FIFA 08, three time champion Mario 'mario' Viska will face dzs player Miroslav 'Mirodeniro' Nikolic from Switzerland.

While mario managed to reach the finals as the only unbeaten player of the whole season, mirodeniro had some problems with an advantage of only one point over 5th placed gimli.

Despite the SK Gaming player being the slight favourite because of his three titles it could be a very tough first match as there has been a draw between the two competitors in regular season. Another event of the Eletronic Sports League takes place in Germany's esport-city Cologne this weekend. On Saturday, 18 players will attend the first ESL Sports Fußball Meisterschaft Pre-Season Finals. With a prize money of more than 25.000€, the Fußball Meisterschaft is one of the most important 1on1-tournaments in Europe.

The rules are more complicated than the EPS ones. After the exciting regular season with three groups and three relegation matches, the players have been distributed to high-, medium- and low-seed groups.

Now the high-seeded players will battle for places 1 to 6, the mid-seeded for places 7 to 12 and the low-seeded for places 13 to 18. First place at the end of the tournament secures a hefty 2050€.
