Today is a bittersweet day for SK Gaming as we wave goodbye to our longtime friend and colleague Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, and announce his replacement as Editor in Chief Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips. As of the first of this month Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips has taken over from Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, who, after over a year of working tirelessly to implement the efficient coverage format we use at SK Gaming today, has decided to move on.
Lawrence, who was one of Michal's closest colleagues, will continue to develop and improve upon the concepts implemented by Michal, as well as introduce a few of his own. Lawrence will continue to uphold Michal's stringent standard of high quality, fast paced interviews from the event floors that he's worked so diligently to produced over the past year.
In addition to carrying on Michal's work, Lawrence will act as head of SK Gaming's newly refined content crew, who you can expect to improve content across the board in the coming year.
To me, this move symbolizes not necessarily the end of something, but a beginning. Not just for Michal who will start his new job quite soon, but for Lawrence who I believe will not only improve upon Michal's ideas, but introduce a whole host of fresh, interesting concepts for you, our audience. Lawrence's managerial talents easily match his abilities as a writer, giving us all the confidence in the world he is the right choice for this job.

I believe 2008 was a year of strength for SK Gaming, which we expect to continue through 2009. We will continue developing and improving upon concepts implemented in the previous year while debuting new, exciting features for 2009.
Last, but by no means least, I would like to wish Michal all the best in his new job and thank him for the months he spent working diligently for SK Gaming.

Michal "Carmac" Blicharz says:
"When I talked about joining SK Gaming 13 months ago with Alex Mueller, my plan was to do the best job possible so that it could launch me to an even more interesting job. But I underestimated SK and as time passed I really grew fond of the organisation and everyone in it.
The job brought me more satisfaction than I would have imagined - we helped promote esports and its players and we laid the foundations for the eSports Index a.k.a. the players history database (hopefully bds will finish it without me as most of the functionality is still a list on paper).
I got to work with a great crew on the website (thanks, guys!), I got to more events than ever, I won another eSports Award. Honestly, I did not want to leave but my plan has worked really, really well and I got a very challenging job opportunity laid down in front of me. If I passed up that one, I know I would regret later.
I won't be gone from esports and I hope that you will see a lot of my work in 2009. I am heart broken to leave but I hope to come back one day. I trust that I will be welcomed with open arms if I do."

"Well first of all I want to wish Carmac the best for his new job. We've known each other for a long time and I would say despite very different personalities we have grown to be good friends, so I am not going to bitter, I am just happy that he will remain within eSports and I hope his new job goes as well as he hopes.
The lasting memory I have of him was during WCG2008 after the tournament was over and we were in the SK office. All was quiet as we both we working then suddenly Carmac unleashed the geek and started banging his fists up and down on the table and giggling to himself insanely at his latest video creation. He can be quite a cool, calm and collected individual but for that moment you could see the inner child, classic stuff.
I'm very honoured to be the new Editor-in-Chief and have always thoroughly enjoyed working at SK over the last two years and I'm glad to be able to focus on SK Gaming full-time. We'll all miss Carmac, but the show must go on!"
