A 17-year old World of Warcraft subscriber landed himself in jail after he threatened suicide in a conversation with a Blizzard customer support representative. While chatting in-game with a Blizzard representative the 17-year old from Middletown, Ohio claimed "he was suicidal and that the game is the only thing he has to live for," prompting the Blizzard employee to phone local law enforcement for assistance.
The boy was arrested December 29, after a cadre of police and emergency service personnel arrived at his home to find he wasn't actually suicidal.
According to the police report, the teen told police he only said he was suicidal "to try to get what he wanted for the game." He was handcuffed, placed in the squad car and arrested on first-degree misdemeanor charges.
Apparently no one told the boy there are easier ways to get gold other than threatening to take your own life. In this day and age, a gamer with a death wish is akin to calling in a bomb scare, it never ends well.

simple as 1+1 = 2 isn't it?
I mean..COME ON, surely people can't be that stupid?
oh wait...America...Ohio... ooooooh!
I mean. Take this South Park quote for example: "What do you say guys? You could just hang out in the sun all day tossing a ball around or you could sit by your computer and do something that really matters!"
Seriously a little too addicted and it's not a big surprise that kid was an american and that it happened in america too. You could almost say it's obvious. ;)
Hope you got the irony! I'm totaly against abusing the game in such ways this kid tried to do :O
Back to the actual topic, I believe a few years ago some Chinese kid died because he played 3 days straight. I guess everyone said "hahah only in China" ...
Grow up, please. And if you want "maniacs" then turn on your tv in the evening and watch the news.
"Another suicidebomber in Palestine" , how's that less of a maniacal act then playing Wow?
Hello moron! NO he did not threaten suicide.
He confessed he didn't think he had anything else to live for apart from the game, but since he had the game he clearly wasn't threatening to kill himself.
You barely functional dyslexics shouldn't post this crap.
