Teen threatens suicide to Blizzard rep, is arrested

ImageA 17-year old World of Warcraft subscriber landed himself in jail after he threatened suicide in a conversation with a Blizzard customer support representative.

While chatting in-game with a Blizzard representative the 17-year old from Middletown, Ohio claimed "he was suicidal and that the game is the only thing he has to live for," prompting the Blizzard employee to phone local law enforcement for assistance.

The boy was arrested December 29, after a cadre of police and emergency service personnel arrived at his home to find he wasn't actually suicidal.

According to the police report, the teen told police he only said he was suicidal "to try to get what he wanted for the game." He was handcuffed, placed in the squad car and arrested on first-degree misdemeanor charges.

Apparently no one told the boy there are easier ways to get gold other than threatening to take your own life. In this day and age, a gamer with a death wish is akin to calling in a bomb scare, it never ends well.
