The countdown finished on January 1st 2009 at 20:00 revealing the Ultimate Gaming Tour with several professional gamers participating. Still everyone can sign up to attend the several 1v1 shootouts in cities all over Sweden and a prize money of 100.000 SEK (~9.217€).The Ultimate Gaming Tour was created by Media Markt and SteelSeries to find the best aimer and rewarding him with not only fame but also 100.000 SEK (~9.217€). The shootouts will be held in cities all over Sweden and there are two ways to attend, the easiest one is by simply signing up or getting a wildcard.
A few wildcards are most likely given out to the professional gamers attending the stops such as the SK Sweden players. For more information read the text of UGT below or visit the Ultimate Gaming Tour Website.

Ultimate Gaming Tour is a 1vs1 competitive shootout tournament which focuses mainly on the individual skills of a player. This concept is far from new, but the prize money involved plus the fact that the tournament is open for anyone above 16 years of age is key to its evolution. The qualifiers will be spread out across Sweden making it readily available for almost all to compete without having to travel large distances - and spending loads of cash.
Today almost all electronic sports events are focused around team games, most stature given to winning the 5vs5 tournaments. The UGT aims at finding the best aimer out there, regardless of team level and previous merits and award him/her 100,000 SEK.
The players can be qualified in two ways for the tournament, sign-up on www.ugt.se or via wildcard. There is a very limited amount of spots for each stop. It will be a single elimination structure in the tournament. The Bracket is decided by random draw. So it's possible that you won´t be facing the tops players until the end. There is two people qualify from each stop on the tour. But the qualifiers Bäckebol, Nacka, Barkaby and Heron City top 3 will qualify for the Grand Final. This makes a total of 32 people that will qualify to the finals in Stockholm Heron City the 21st march.
UGT was created by Media Markt and SteelSeries, with the idea of bringing in various Media Markt partners in order to raise the stakes to give the chance at winning a huge prize purse - a first in Nordic 1vs1 Counter-Strike history.

This is really funny, hype around best aimer, like we're some kids. It's nothing but great commercial thing for UGT sponsors, to have ads all around playing zone and in their map. Also, the thing where you can't change your gear makes it even more funnier. Zaaz talks about equal chance, but what about ppl who don't use Steelpad gear vs those who do ? Give me a break, so hype about nothing. They should've invest that money in quake live.
but rly nice...
good luck to the contenders! =)
Mousepad: SteelSeries Qck Mass (Qck Series)
Headset: SteelSeries Siberia RED.
this is pretty stupid, i think that as long as players bring in steelseries hardware, everything should be allowed.. but i get the point :|
As long as it's SteelSeries stuff, the advertising part is working so why the hell does it have to be this way ? At least allow the players to chose between laser and optical (like the choice is hard...).
Let's face the fact that this is about sponsors... and advertisment... so... let me prefeer an Ikari mouse, a steelsound headset and a good mousepad than the crappy ones u usually must use in 1vs1 competitions organized in other events... of course it's not your default hardware, but it's will be the same for every contender at least
whimp is going to be in Lund, and zAAz in Malmö :D
nice idea!
Hope it goes mega well!
nice news for CS community
But i'm disappointed, I was expecting something more exiting.
But gl all.
Have you seen in a real sport something like that?
But a lot of sound to finally announce just a 1vs1,i was xpecting a football/kart/poker match or something :P:P:P:P
I was hoping for a new league or tournament :(
