PGS holds hands with CS again

ImagePGS Gaming, one of the most successful organisations in the world of CS, has decided to give the game a second shot with a new lineup.

It took a year since the departure of Filip 'NEO' Kubski and co, the lineup that now plays for Meet Your Makers, for PGS Gaming to reembrace CS. The news is surprising along with the actual choice of who will represent PGS.

The new PGS are former members of KomaCrew (and SPQR earlier):
Grzegorz 'brd' Ścieński
Sebastian 'BS7' Furman
Adam 'destru' Gil
Jacek 'Milt' Raszka
Grzegorz 'szpero' Dziamałek

One surprising aspect of the announcement is that PGS had no intention of going back to CS after their breakup with the current MYM squad.

"We no longer plan to invest into Counter-Strike," said PGS manager Marcin "Darky" Sieczkowski in an interview with SK. "You could say that we achieved everything that was possible in the game. This goes back to the Polish CS scene - if Poland has got so many talented players, then why are there no strong Polish teams on the international scene, other than MYM?"

Much has changed in 2008. After almost a year the new lineup will not be compared to the one that brought PGS Gaming several Samsung Euro Championship medals, a WCG gold medal and an ESWC championship (technically two ESWC championships). After the launch of the ESL Pro Series in Poland going back to Counter-Strike became a reasonable thing to do.

The other reason the choice is a little surprising is that a more star-packed lineup was expected from the number one esports organisation in Poland. Rumour has it that Jakub 'kuben' Gurczynski was contacted but turned out to be too expensive.

Instead of trying to pick out the top players that have been trying to beat MYM for years, PGS chose a team of youngsters who could blossom into a stronger team if they got the right support. This lineup has been on the Polish scene for about a year and are currently fourth in the ESL Pro Series.

This team will be present at the ESWC 2009 Grand Final as they are already qualified as title defenders (MYM entered ESWC 2008 under the PGS Gaming licence and won).
