SK Gaming's Warcraft 3 manager Min-Sik "reis" Ko has revealed many interesting details about how teams work, why WC3L could not go on with big teams and how the player salaries are bound to drop in 2009.Our friends from Fragster have taken a very interesting interview from reis, the manager of SK's Warcraft 3 team. It sheds light on many aspects of the industry that fans are generally not aware of.
In the interview, reis explains exactly why it did not pay off to have big Warcraft 3 teams. He mentions that SK Gaming is considering keeping two or three WC3 players and predicts that a lot of players will get offloaded from their teams in January. This also means that player earnings should go down in 2009.
"The players have to realize that they can't earn this much any more," he says. "But now you cannot say to a player 'from now on you are getting less, because next month there will be many free agents anyway that would cost much less than you now.' A player would always think that he still deserves the same money since he is still in a very good team."
The interview also goes in detail about why SK, mTw and Meet Your Makers have decided to split the NGL One prize money equally among themselves and has a couple of hints as to who will stay with SK for another season. You can read it right here.

Anyone else think that's kinda of worrying? If i was paying people these ridiculous amounts of money to play computer games, i'd expect them be trying 100% in every game.
"First of all you have to see that within two years another team came up that suddenly increased the salaries from "nearly nothing" to an amount ten times higher. That was the beginning."
grow a pair xD
One of the most open interviews I've ever seen, usually you don't see managers talking about the inner workings of their teams....

I'm sure every team would have put out 100% regardless and this would have never happen
I want to know in fact how much for 1 month ?
But I don`t think players get too much money.
Sk-Gaming is suchs a HUGE brand.
Everyone who ever played a Pc-Game a LITTLE serious knows it.
And the players - the guys which actually MAKE the company as big/famous as it is are blamed for "earning too much" ? Not fair imo.
I guess we will see Sponsors sponsoring single players in the future instead of the teams.
Players representing a company and getting payed equipment, traveling, hotels etc for that.
A really hard decision to make considering reign is in much better shape than remind, but Reign in 2on2 or Undead in the new system make Soju and remind who can both play orc the better choice.
By January there will be so many great wc3 players on the market... probably time for some of them to finally go inacvtive.
dude I now checked , for 2008 Soju has won 240 bucks , thats ridiculous..
