The previous seasons champions Meet Your Makers have been eliminated from the NGL ONE season V finals by Mortal Team Work after a slew of exciting matches.
The NGL ONE final is now down to just two teams, SK Gaming and Mortal Team Work, after seven thrilling matches between the season IV champions Meet Your Makers and the first time finalists on borrowed time, Mortal Team Work.
Rather surprisingly it was Jung Ki 'Susiria' Oh and Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee who managed to captivate the audience, in a thrilling match on Echo Isles with some very unorthodox moves spanning almost half an hour.
Susiria opted for a mass ghoul strategy while Check went with the standard Dark Ranger/archers strategy, a rather popular strategy for night elves on Echo Isles. Susiria wasted no time pushing Check's base, going to work with his ghouls and performing several surrounds. Check enlisted the help of a Panda as his second hero - and for a moment had Susiria against the ropes. Fortunately for Susiria he was able to destroy his opponents tree of life and back off, turning the game on its head and putting Check in a difficult position.
The match went on for quite a while with Susiria managing to stay in the game, only just at times, as a result of Check's lack of resources.
The match went back and forward several times with Susiria hanging on by a thread for the most part. Eventually the undead player did tech and began producing abominations and destroyers. Check tried his best to counter, but unfortunately for him the lack of resources meant once a unit was made dead, it stayed dead.
Susiria was able to hang on long enough to amass the units needed to mount an effective push on Check, once his Dark Ranger died the Panda was soon to follow and Susiria took the match.
Susiria, however, wasn't able to overcome Du Seop 'WhO' Chang and neither was teammate Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang, who lost the seventh and final map to give Mortal Team Work the win. If the NGL finals were a chair, MeetYourMakers would have just fallen off it.
Mortal Team Work now advance to the final to play SK Gaming tomorrow, but coming from the lower bracket puts them in a tough position as mTw will have to win two sets of matches to be declared the final NGL championship team.
Check out the Susiria vs. Check replay, it carries the RotterdaM seal of approval.
