NGL ONE shifts its focus away from teams to solo players, announcing a 24 player league. Team-based play will remain, but with small prize money and a 3v3 system. The NGL was the second prominent league to move away from catering to large teams of players after the WC3L changed its format.
NGL ONE will be a league for 24 players. Eight players will be invited to the league directly, another twelve will fight in qualifiers and the remaining four will be voted into NGL ONE by the community from a list of nominated gamers.
Under the new setup the NGL ONE season will last 12 play days of two matches for each player. Eight top-ranked players at the end of the season will qualify for a LAN finals event. The qualified players will receive $500 and accommodation at the finals. The top three finishers will get a share of $17,500 in prize money.
The NGL will keep organising a team competition, but for teams of three and with only $3,000 per season. "We decided to keep the team competition alive for interested teams but know that, due to the changes, the target group will change to semi-professional and casual teams," reads the NGL-One statement.
NGL ONE was formerly a team-based league for 10 teams. The last matches with the old system will be played this weekend at NGL's finals event with SK Gaming, Meet Your Makers and mTw.

On the other hand, SC makes its largest impact in the solo leagues and seeing War3 move in this direction isn't necessarily a bad thing. Change can be good.
