ImageWhereas the invite list for PGL Season IV is already a done deal, a looming race for the remaining 7 places in the $27,760 tournament is set to start off among 16 of the best of Chinese players.

The organising body of the Professional Gamers League (PGL) initially intended to host qualifiers in all three regions of China, Europe and South Korea, in addition to direct qualifications for previous winner and runner-up, Xiang 'TH000' Huang and Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang respectively, in the fourth season.

However, the failed plan does not matter now, as the PGL had completed the invite list two days ago by naming three WCG 2008 semi finalists: Manuel 'GrubbY' Schenkhuizen, Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin and Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn the European invitees, on top of four Korean participants, June 'Lyn' Park, Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee, Dae Hui 'FoV' Cho and Du Seop 'WhO' Chang.

This week we will see seven out of sixteen finest Chinese players making their ways to the host city of Chengdu, China. The qualifier will not only be a host of some familiar faces, Weiliang 'Fly100%' Lu, Xuwen 'InFi' Wang, Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li and Zhuo 'TeD' Zeng to name a few, but also some rising youngsters like Lei 'sTwhy' Tang, Xinyu 'Tyler' Xiu and Lin 'Wulin' Wu.

The format is pretty simple. Quarter finals onwards, the winner of a match-up will qualify, while the loser will continue playing until the eighth place is determined. The tournament will be finished in three days as round 16 will be played tomorrow and the 18th, while the rest of the games will be finished on the 20th. More detailed information is available in PGL Season IV Chinese Qualifier.

Update:
The latest schedule PGL released just now varies from the previous one. The qualifier will start off on the 17th and Gamebank of PPLive will stream Sky vs. langqi and infi vs. Tree then. More details will be released tomorrow.
