Chinese gamers not content with simply playing games will be able to live them, to an extent, as China's first online gaming theme park becomes a reality. The Universal Digital Carnival Valley, scheduled to open in Changzhou in 2010, was announced at the First International Digital Creative Industry Summit held in Wuhan. The park will focus on themes of anime and esports games, combining the latest digital entertainment and interactive technologies to bring the themes to life through various attractions, such as rides.
The joint venture between the Changzhou Wujin Taihu Bay Tourist Company and the Singapore-based Jiangsu Kaixuan Digital Culture Industry Base will span 350,000 square meters and feature a total of nine digital culture and esport oriented sectors.
Some of the parks sectors are vaguely named so interpreting what themes they might employ is difficult, though there's no misinterpreting "Warcraft Land", while "Star World" could very well be a "Starcraft" themed section. Other sectors include Hero Gate, Taobao Street, QQ Fantasy, Mir World, Secret Island, Happy Harbor and World Digital Culture Temple.
This move signifies yet another step towards China's goal of being at the forefront of the esports movement.
