mTw isn't my favourite team, but looking at the 1.6 scene objectively, there is no doubt that they are the number one team in the world. Why do you think so many people are angry about the ranking? It's because they think mTw is the best team in the world, and therefore they should be ranked as number #1...

look .. everyone can have a personal opinion.. we live in capitalist markets and democratic countries (most of us) so why not. but a ranking is more than that. and i could keep on going about this... I could write you an entire novel explaining in how many ways you are wrong.

let me just brief it coz i don't wanna bore you and i don't wanna bore myself for that matter. just as someone said in a comment, having a good year doesn't necessarily imply that you are the best team in the world; you might be the best team at the moment, but then again that doesn't fo**ing matter; IT S TOTALLY IRRELEVANT by normal standards and by REAL LIFE standards. it would actually be so irrelevant because it could change every month. we could have a new team next month that would win that event going on in Asia right now (or soon enough) - they could beat fnatic sk mym mtw and everyone else and we could collectively consider them the best.

real life standards for different rankings imply something totally antagonistic to that. lack of volatility, clear goals and purposes, clear ways of arranging numbers so that nobody can deny their value - that's how a good ranking looks like. anyway its too late to continue. i m not asking you to change your beliefs i m just trying to open up your mind so that you can keep on considering mtw the best team at the moment, but really don't show a lack of respect for sk's achievements. without doubt sk is good not only through value-adding skills but through longevity, dedication, keeping a steady level for years.. nobody has managed that yet has it? this is the success recipe that brings sk right now on top!!!

PS: and NO, I'm not just kissing 'bottoms' in order to anticipate future accusations!

I'm not showing a lack of respect for SK's achievements - this has nothing to do with SK.. mTw was a top3 team in 2007, and have proven themselves to be the number one team in the world in 2008 by winning KODE5, WCG and WEM and generally placing good.

The fact is that most teams change lineups farely often and therefore you can't base a ranking on "old" results. But let's look at some facts:
- mTw was better than SK in 2007
- mTw has been better than SK in 2008
- mTw is ranked #1 on the highest-earning list

There is no way around it, mTw should be number 1 on any ranking list - and I'm not saying that because I'm danish, I'm saying it because it is extremely obvious. SK has done a great job this year, but they were weak in 2007 and generally I don't see any reason why they should be ranked as the number one team in the world right now.

hmmm crikey ... and i was thinking that sk just managed to beat mtw on the latest grand event. that + just add up the points from the ranking and you will find out the result... alright, can you please just add up? if you don't have all the figures at your hand just send an email to theslash to help u out with some info.

if you still come with an objection after you do that... either i'm crazy either all of you that want mtw first are crazy..and i'd better prefer it the second way :)

A five year old can say that the G7 ranking is correct.... But I don't really get your comment, the point is that mTw has been placing better than SK - not only this year, but also last year. That means that mTw is the better team, and a ranking should show that.

Yeah, I could waste my time adding up the points, but why should I? One of the criterias for an event to get included in the ranking is: "a LAN event, with a top 10 ranked team attending" - it's ridicilous.. Events like that shouldn't be included, because it doesn't mean anything if a team wins 10 local LAN events a year..

Also, they ignore the fact that events like ESWC and WCG aren't open for an unlimited number of teams from every country, just counting the number of top 10 teams attending, which is - to say the least - extremely retarded.

If u want something current then I'd say mTw is 1st, mouz 2nd and SK 3rd but over a long period of time I'd have to say the G7 ranking just because I haven't seen a more accurate ranking than that yet, even tho it has its flaws.

Please don't think I'm tryin to take anything away from u guys, everyone knows ur the best team in the world this year. I'm just defending the G7 ranking from kiddos without any interest in understanding how it works, tired of reading dumb ass comments.

Like I said everyone knows mTw is the best team this year which means the G7 ranking displays points and placings over a longer period of time than just 08.

Ok lets say '07 and '08. Does the G7 ranking show the best (in your opinion of course)?

I don't know exactly how far back the ranking counts points but considering there's no other valid ranking that has taken ranking of CS teams as far as the G7 ranking I'd have to say it's pretty correct.

Although one have to bare in mind the issues it still has with events like Dreamhack giving more points than WCG just because only one team from each country is allowed at WCG etc. It's not perfect but show me a ranking that is =)

I know how the G7 ranking works, I know it's blemishes and I know what and why it shows as it does.

I've already said I believe the G7 ranking is correct over a long period of time, 07/08 and how far back it might go, which also means that's my personal ranking. But if you want me to state mTw is better than SK like I already have, I can do it again. mTw is better than SK.

No I did not want you to state that, I never asked for that - I personally dont care who you think are the best, I just wanted to know your ranking opinion these couple of years.

Well to honest I really have no idea which team has won the most events over the past 2-3 years which is why I like the idea of a long term ranking like the G7 with the points system. Makes it so much easier than to remember every single event and how big they were, that's impossible.
