Danny "Husky" Engels took gold at the Shell V-Power Semi Final #1 yesterday despite being beaten in the 20 minute qualifying race by Michael Bretigam.22 drivers made it through the pre-qualifier this past Saturday, where HuskY managed to pull out ahead of the competition with the fastest finish.
HuskY took first place after a set of exciting 13-lap races, where a first place starting position, in light of his strong qualifier run, helped him stay ahead in the race.
Michael "HP-Towlie" Bräutigam finished second behind HuskY, while Florian "F. Becker" Becker came in third. Marcel 'SandMan' Krause managed to qualify alongside his teammate as well, finishing 6th in the semi finals.
HuskY got off to a rough start in the competition, "I have never expected such a tough race, after I dominated the pre-qualifying," he explained.
"It wasn't really my best day though. I was beaten in the 20-minute qualifying by Michael Bräutigam, who is a pretty good driver, but I showed a good 2nd race and won the semi final overall."
HuskY plans on practicing extensively in order to up his game for the next stage, "I think, SandMan and I, will do some race stints the next days to improve our race setup and with that we'll hopefully show our best on the 14th of December. It's going to be my last real racing event for this year and I really want to get a good and successful end of the year."
Guido "Modde" Muddemann was also scheduled to participate, but was unable to attend on the day. He will be attempting to qualify through the second semi final, which kick starts this Friday. Björn "Biertrinker" Kajewski and Sebastian "Clioracer" Seybold will also be participating on Friday.
You can watch HuskY and the rest of the competitors in action during the grand final next Sunday, where they'll be competing for more than €2500 in racing oriented prizes, including a lap in a Dodge Viper V10 GTS-R.
