av3k versus RazerJ - early final at Dreamhack?

By Michal 'Carmac' Blicharz

ImageThe usual suspects have made it to the semi final of Dreamhack's Quake 3 tournament. av3k will be meeting RazerJ and fox will be playing Strenx, who got Spart1e to slashquit out of the event.

Three out of four quarter final matches at DreamHack were relatively easy for the winners. Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski did not have much trouble with Michael 'mAdix' Hindersson and Magnus 'fox' Olsson got a 2-0 forfeit against 'LuGia' who did not show up for his game.

It was tighter than that in the Zhibo 'Fan Zhibo' Fan vs. Richard 'noctis' Gansterer game (2-0 to the Chinese player), where both maps were relatively tight, the second map of the set ending in overtime.

The most eventful game was the one between the team mates from Frag Dominant, Kevin 'Strenx' Baeza and Sebastian 'Spart1e1' Siira. The French aimbot narrowly won a HUB game where he was out damaged, lost NODM9 and then dominated on T4. After getting second at the ESWC Masters of Athens, Spart1e was the favourite of the match but he quit the server with about five minutes to go.

In the semis we will have a classic game between av3k and RazerJ. The matches between those two players never fail to deliver thrills. The clash of the overly aggressive style of the Polish player with the defensive "I hit every shot" style of RazerJ is probably the tastiest cocktail in today's Quake 3.

The other semi final will have fox and Strenx. The seasoned Swede is easily the favourite here as Strenx has just achieved his best result yet.

The games start at 15:30 and can be followed through GTV (open Quake 3 and type "/connect " in the console):
