WCG opens game polls for 2009

ImageThe World Cyber Games has once again opened a poll, through which the community can vote to have their favourite titles featured during the 2009 WCG circuit.

The choices are split into seven genres and one all-inclusive option however, choices are limited to PC and Xbox titles. Voters can choose two pre-approved titles as their primary and secondary choices and can even choose the platform for any cross-platform games.

The action genre includes titles like Damnation and Metal Rage, also included is the frighteningly popular and clear favourite to win, Gears of War 2.

Street Fighter IV, Soulcalibur IV and Virtua Fighter 5 are all available options in the fighting or "beat ‘em up" genre.

The FPS genre has by far the most variety with 37 titles across the two platforms. The conventional options are all there, Call of Duty, Quake Wars, Team Fortress and of course Counter-Strike 1.6. Some unconventional options to make the list include Left 4 Dead and F.E.A.R 2.

Arcade style racing games dominate the racing genre with titles like Project Gotham Racing and Need for Speed, though racing simulator GTR Evolution is also now available.

The RTS genre also features the traditional titles like Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and Starcraft: Brood War. What’s surprising is the inclusion of Starcraft II, a game which is yet to see a set release date; and being that Blizzard are notorious for delaying their games, the choice seems a little odd. It’s probable however, that if Starcraft II does receive significant votes, yet isn’t released in time, WCG will use Starcraft: Brood War instead.

The RPG genre is sure to swing in favour of the incredibly popular World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, having already established a very healthy sized competitive community, though other popular titles are available, like Conan and Warhammer.

You can cast your vote at the WCG website on their polling page.
