Admins fix brackets, Raspot outcome still undecided

ImageThe admins realised their mistake overnight and have swapped Like with Bonecracker this morning to correct the Warcraft III play-off brackets but the outcome of the Raspot saga remains unknown.

On arrival I informed Ownitsch of the mistake and he went to discuss the situation with the head admin, who then went to someone even more powerful in order to help make a decision.

To refresh the memories of those unaware of the goings on through the night you can catch up on the Mexican Raspot's WCG Dream ended by admin mistake? news item.

The brief summary is that Diego "Raspot" Echeagaray seems to have been on the receiving end of an admin blunder. Raspot was eliminated through a three-way tiebreaker which, as it seems, should not have been played at all.

The rulebook has conflicting rules which mean the WCG admins have a hard decision to make. On the one hand it states that a tie-breaker should be played if the players are tied however later on in the rules it states that the scores between the tied players in the group stage should be counted first.

In group A the three tied players had equal scores against each other in the group stage. Yaws beat SaSe, SaSe beat Grubby and Grubby beat Yaws so they were all even with 1-1 ratio. Therefore a tie-breaker was played, but in the case of Raspot he defeated both Kowi and NightWolf in the group stage so he had a 2-0 ratio against NightWolf's 1-1, so a tie-breaker should not have been played.

Nightwolf is already warming up and time is ticking for the WCG admins to come up with a verdict on whether or not they should try to contact Raspot to rectify the error or if they will simply apologise and carry on. Ownitsch has told me he will inform me when they come to a decision so we will keep you posted.

So far they have fixed the mistake in the brackets which was the easy decision, now comes the hard one and whatever happens, someone is going to feel cheated out of the WCG play-offs.
