Heading into one of the toughest groups in World Cyber Games 2008 Global Final next week, Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen sees no chance he will leave the tournament in the early stage. The Dutch talismanic player has slowly found his touch in the past month as he scooped the silver medal in NiceGameTV League Season I as well as the bronze medal in World E-sports Masters and maintained at the third place in the GosuGamers November ranking with 2 points lead over the WEM winner Xuwen 'InFi' Wang.
In his fifth WCG, the 2004 gold medalist will however have to get his act in gear early in group stage after seeing himself grouped with infi, Kim 'SaSe' Hammar and Marc 'yAwS' Förster. Prior to the commencement of the tournament on November 5, he featured in the “Don't miss this player" conducted by wcg.com and gave his two cents of the event.

You are in the very tough group. Your group includes Sase from Sweden and Infi from China. To pass the full league that as two top ranker, you should win at least one guy among them. Do you have any special strategy for that?
Yes, it's probably my toughest WCG group ever. YaWs should not be discounted either. Both Infi & Sase can be difficult opponents for me, but it's not acceptable to go out in group stage for me so it will not happen. One of them will have to go out early.

instead he got kicked out of the group stage in eswc masters, athens, and finals.
got 5th place out of 8 players in blizz europe.
and one decent 3rd place finish in WEG.
4 mediocre results and somehow nubby is still so confident.
Open ur fucking eyes and u will see that sky also didnt won any tournament 2008
But hey mass top 3 places are fucking bad...really why grubby has 2 win events 2 be called good?
He has 2 do it like WhO? win 1 fucking event and be overrated for like 12 months now? u have 2 be kidding me after this eswc crap who sucked @the tournaments so shut ur mouth
He won vs Sky, 2x times vs Who, vs Moon.
He lost vs Lyn, Sky.
He beat strong players and ofc he lost vs strong players, as for everyone, can he be called overated for that? Or can be he called a bad noobish player for that? If yes, what the hell are these who lost to him?
I really wanna see what he will say if he gets knocked out in the group stage , really I`d like to hear his excuse. He has hit the bottom with some statements a couple of times , but this is gonna be the big bang srsly
i think he will proceed
But yeah, better than the usual "my opponents are all very strong and you should not underastimate that guy from Tajikistan"-bullshit.
"ive everything what it takes to win" his statement prior kode5, where he got manhandled by sh, someone who seemed to have more.
"i win the money, the other players can share the hardware" was his statement befor xlo-finals, where he got cleaned by sonkie 2-0.
overconfindence as expected here, after his rigged games vs moon where massyourmerchandise was involved heavily.
What is your goal for this tournament?
Grubby: "My goal is number one. I am very serious about that. I made a promise that I will try not to break. [..] "
*in before gay-spider*
grubby did a great job so far..
