ImageIt has been a phenomenal weekend for SK Gaming collecting three gold medals and one silver and a total prize money of $40,000 across four different disciplines; Quake 3, Warcraft3, World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike 1.6.

This weekend saw two events run simultaneously in two very different locations. The first was the ESWC Masters of Athens in Greece which held tournaments for Quake 3 and Warcraft3 and which saw Ryan 'Skanky' Over, June 'Lyn' Park and Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim in action for SK Gaming.

Meanwhile across the waters the Extreme Masters Montreal event in Canada was taking place with SK Gaming and SK Gaming EUROPE in the thick of it.

Warcraft3 GOLD: SK.Lyn claims revenge and defeats MYM.Moon in Grand Final

ImageJune 'Lyn' Park shape was strong throughout the tournament. His opponent and long time rival, Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang, had made quick work of the other Korean Orc, Du Seop 'WhO' Chang, in the semi finals and this set up a highly anticipated final between the 2 Korean players.

Lyn had plenty of practice versus Korean Night Elves finding himself in the second groupstage amidst Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim, Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee and fellow finalist Moon.

Lyn's only defeat of the tournament had come courtesy of Moon in that second groupstage but the rematch in the Grand Final saw Lyn victorious with a 2-0 scoreline and earn $7,500 and direct qualification to ESWC 2009 for his efforts.

ESWC Masters of Athens TOP3

ImageRyan 'Skanky' Over earnt 3rd place and $4000 in the ESWC Grand Final but persevered in the ESWC Masters of Athens to be rewarded with what most believe he deserves, a gold medal.

Rapha staged a legendary comeback in the semi-final against Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski after a fumbling start with Rapha going on to take the series 2-0 to move into the Grand Final.

In the Grand final he found himself faced with the ultimate dark horse of the tournament Sebastian 'Spart1e1' Siira who took the first map off him 20:11 but once again Rapha dug deep to win 16:14 on pro-Q3Tourney4 and finally 13:8 on no-DM9 to seal victory and a cheque for $7,500.
