After a difficult start on the first day of the ESL Extreme Masters Montreal event, Nihilum will reportedly have their remaining matches forfeited. I now sit down and speak to Inflame from Nihilum Plasma and ask what exactly brought all this on the team.Patrick 'Inflame' Costales from Nihilum Plasma sits down and speaks to me about what happened in Montreal. As reported today Nihilum Plasma officially resigned from the Intel Extreme Masters Montreal event, as they did not feel the new released 3.0 patch was suited for tournament play. Everyone wants to know why the team choice this option. The statement by Patrick 'Inflame' Costales explains what brought this on the team and what is next for Nihilum Plasma.
Hello Inflame, firstly what made the team come to the conclusion of dropping out of the Montreal Global Challenge?
Well we have all just been burnt out from going to ESL LA and BlizzCon, and we haven't played any 3.0 or WoW for that matter prior to this tournament, and apparently cant play any proper setups due to the classes we play (none of us can play ret pala or rogue). We have also just played really bad because of no practice on the 3.0 patch (me forgetting to use shield wall, recklessness several matches and not using blade storm properly, I think if we could have played a bit on 3.0 before the tournament we could of done a lot better.
Do you think it was the correct choice to drop out of the tournament?
Well, all 3 of us cant really be bothered playing with this patch, none of us thought it would be this bad since none of us have played on beta or PTR, and we didn't know damage was this much out of control (we were just shocked at the damage output on our first 3.0 3v3 arena games at this tournament) it's just stupid. So I mean if we really cant be bothered playing, there is no point to play so I feel it was the right decision.
I am really rooting for SK in the montreal tournament since i play with sk on the same server and same guild on stormscale and we're good friends. SK gaming really deserve to win after not being able to qualify for blizzard regionals/blizzcon because Valent 'another' Sebastijan wasn't eligible. Best of luck to SK.
What is next for Nihilum Plasma?
Well first of all we are going to try to qualify for the ESL main round tournament, while learning different classes/comps, since we can only play together on the tournament servers because i play on horde and Paperkat/Carekoala play alliance on stormscale. I am going to review my placement within the Mousesport company, to see if it is the best option for me and the team or if we should stay and work things out.
As you have expressed strong concerns to the 3.0 patch, how will you as a team adjust to the patch for upcoming tournaments?
We obviously have to adapt to the class changes since WLD will no longer work, so paperkat is going to play his mage more often and I will probably be playing rogue in the future, carekoala is still going to play druid afaik.

:D
They haven't even been able to log on their Live characters in 3.0 due to the fact Stormscale has been down pretty much all the time before the tournament started.
Nihilum can play 1 comp in reality, and that comp has been made insignificant in this tournament. As they said themselves, they don't have enough knowledge of other classes to play the game, and up until this tournament they didn't need any ;P
Was it 2 weeks ago when this tournament was announced to be played in 3.0? So like I said, they have no preparation in regards to trying out other classes or comps. Where as teams like x6 who have always been versatile and can therefore adapt :)

LOL?""Apparently Nihilum is displeased with the fact that the event is running the new 3.0 patch""
didnt they knew this already a month ago or what? so they play the super ultra "old" comp of WLD, isnt Op enymore, they loose and they go away of the tourney?
And also groups W/L are being fixed? omg bad omg

DMG OUT OF CONTROL OMG
When a druid could outheal 2 dps classes that was just fine i suppose.
As soon as Blizzcon ended we started spamming Blizzard to get earlier flights home, to find out that it costed 1800$ per person and noone wanted to pay it. ESL wanted us really bad to play at ESL Montreal, having just won Blizzcon thus being probably the highest profiled team who could be at the event. It was not really an option for us to stay here and not atleast try to play the event.
As we went into our first game vs GGE, which was live streamed, this was our very first game of 3.0. None of us even played test realm prior to the event, we had little to no idea of what the new skills actually could do.
I understand them 100 % that they forfeited, new patch sux imo and with their schedule being so stressfull and tight as it is + the no practice its only understandeble that they did what they did.
