Three Europeans were drawn into Group A of the second groupstage but only one has made it through to the playoffs, Yoan "ToD" Merlo, who joins Du Seop "WhO" Chang in the playoffs.Yoan 'ToD' Merlo is on form in the ESWC Masters in Athens coming into the second group stage after topping the first which included a win against Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang.
ToD's opening group A matches were against Gravitas Gaming team-mate Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn and Du Seop 'WhO' Chang who he beat 2-0 setting him up early for a place in the playoffs.
Manuel 'GrubbY' Schenkhuizen who was missing at the recent BlizzCon tournament was unable to turn his recent good form into positive scorelines and lost to both Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn and Du Seop 'WhO' Chang.
However Grubby managed to salvage three points by being the thorn in ToD's plans of group domination defeating his former team-mate 2-0, however the destiny of both players had already been decided so the level of seriousness is debatable.
The battle for the 2nd playoff place was therefore between Ukranian HoT and Korean Who, the match went to the 3rd map but ultimately saw Who progress to become the third Korean in the ESWC Masters of Athens playoffs.
