Pedro ‘LucifroN’ Durá has continued to surprise the WarCraft 3 masses by advancing to the BlizzCon 2008 grand final with wins over SonkiE, Happy and Lyn. Now the 16-year old Spanish wonder is only two wins away from his first international tournament victory. LucifroN talks to SK Gaming about his results so far.How does it feel to become an overnight superstar in WarCraft 3?
LucifroN: It feels great to be in the grand final, I'm really happy about it :). I didn't expect to do so well at the European finals and didn't expect to be where I am here at Blizzcon.
Did you think you'd do this well, to get through the upper bracket?
LucifroN: I didn't expect to be at this place at all, I'm really surprised.
Did you find your matches harder as you progressed through the bracket against SonkiE, Happy and Lyn?
LucifroN: I don't think so. All of them were really hard. Against happy, it was especially hard since he won against me last time, and he's really good against Orc.
What did you do to defeat him?
LucifroN: I made Blademaster, tavern, doomriders troll and spirit walker in all the games.
What was the mindset heading into your upper final match vs Lyn?
LucifroN: Mirror isn't a good match for me, I dislike it, and I was really afraid of losing 2-0. After the first game I was even more scared. I just tried to attack when I had 50 supply since I thought that was the best way to win. Glad it worked out.
After losing map one, you used pretty much the same strat for the next two maps. Did you think this would throw him off guard?
LucifroN: Yeah I did but it wasn't exactly planned like that. I just tried to get an advantage that I thought could work.
This is your first ever international event, have you been nervous?
LucifroN: I normally don't get nervous so I've been able to relax for the most part.
How was it to play in front of such a huge crowd?
LucifroN: It was really fun, exciting to be here. I got nervous in the beginning but was able to calm down as the matches progressed.
Who would you rather face-off against in the final, Happy or Lyn?
LucifroN: Both are really good players so I don't mind who I play. I'm better against Undead than Orc so maybe Happy would be a better opponent, but I await either. Lyn is really good against Undead so I'm not sure what's going to happen there.
How much practice have you gotten in for these events?
LucifroN: I've played around 20 games a day against my mates, with a lot of matches against NE. I thought I was going to play Check first round so I practiced against Elf, but I switched to Human once I realized I was going to play SonkiE.
You've never played in the WC3L or NGL One, how did you get experience?
LucifroN: I've been playing custom games, and I don't think you really need to play in the leagues.
Do you think you can stay on the top of your game as you have been?
LucifroN: I hope so, I don't know if I'll be able to or not. We will see at the WCG finals.
Do you have higher expectations for WCG with these recent results?
LucifroN: I will try to do my best, I don't know if I'll be able to continue what I've been doing, but my goal is to get top 3.
Do you see yourself as the best Orc player right now?
LucifroN: Nah not at all, Fly, Grubby, Wh0, Lyn, I think they're all better than me still..but I'm getting better :).
